This Graffiti Art Class (originally developed by Pose Two) was created to teach and explore the history styles and techniques of the art form called graffiti. This class will follow a similar format and be taught by members of the Vicious Styles Crew.

Instuctors: Leon Rainbow, Will Kasso, Joe Base, Demer, Mek, Snow, Ras, Delve, Klark and Surprise Guests!

Session: 1 History styles and traditions

Saturdays, 9:30am – 11am

February 11-March 10, 2012
This session is an introductory lesson on graffiti writing. Within a 5-week course student will learn the basis of the history styles and traditions of Writhing. The Instructor guides the students on a virtual train ride on the past present and future of Graffiti writing. Through discussions, video, slide presentations and books students imaginations are colorfully sprayed with a rich experience… and enough inspiration to last a lifetime! Students 10-110 are welcome. No prior experience with Art graffiti is required. All students are required to come prepared with a black-book (sketch book) pencil, pen and a sharpie marker (black). Our goal and purpose it that you take this course to learn the basic foundation regarding graffiti. Understanding what “writing ” is really about and how it relates to you.

Session: 2 Black book Skills/Painters Touch

March 17-April 14, 2012

Saturdays, 9:30am – 11am

This course is for students who wish to develop their lettering skills. During this session students experience intense black book sessions where they will learn color schemes, letter formations and style concepts, the second half of the session focuses on transforming black book sketches into actual burners.

Session 3 Can Control

April 21-May 19 2012

Saturdays, 9:30am – 11am
This session is dedicated purely to the development of painting. Enhancing technique and style. Watch week students are expected to have a carefully drawn sketch, which they will execute on a wall under the critics and guidance of experienced Graff writers.

What is an Aerosol Art Battle?

A theme is given the day of the event. Then artists are given an equal amount of time to complete their art on space provided. Example, canvas, Crescent Graffiti Paper, wood. They will all be using Montana spray paint and paint markers. A qualified panel of judges base the art on different criteria, lettering, concept, color, composition, originality and technique.

THE BLACK BOOK BATTLE! OPEN TO EVERYONE!

Register at Noon or anytime before event at Colorest during business hours.

Crescent will provide all on-time attendees with Black Book. Colorest will be providing some art materials, although contestants are urged to bring materials such as: colored pencils, markers, paint markers etc. to compete in battle. Sharing could take away valuable time! Registration is limited!

Winner Receives:

Art Materials Valued at $100 and Gift Card From Rare Breed Footwear!

Rules:

Registrants will be given a topic to use for inspiration, they will be allowed 60 minutes to complete this piece. Then Judges will pick winner based on same criteria for Aerosol Event. If you have never competed and want some tips take our workshop from 12-2 on Saturday 11/12 with Leon Rainbow (Judge) for tips and tricks!

What is a Black Book Battle?

Similar to the aerosol event but, instead of painting on large surfaces you draw, paint and design all on paper. Black books are a place for artists to put down ideas, Crescent® Graffiti Paper™ is designed specifically for spray paints, acrylics and won’t dry out markers. Great place for artists to sketch or experiment anywhere inspiration strikes.
