Freestyle Fridays Week #8

This week I got a late start so I didn’t get pictures until the last part of the piece. I wanted to continue with the triangular style I have been working with. So I rocked the first object that came to mind, that is where the hydrant came in. I then added some circles and worked in the “R”. The one circle near the “R” worked into an eye. I worked everything else around these elements.

Freestyle Fridays Week #7

I have been meaning to do a sketch for a project for Home Front’s, “Visionary Walk” project. So after much deliberation and procrastination I decided to do it as part of a “Freestyle Friday”. I wanted to make it real dream-like and visionary. I went to Utrecht’s  Warehouse Art Store in Cranbury,NJ during the week and I found some iridescent water colors..How cool! I always find great deals at that spot! Below is the results of the experimentation!

This is the First Sketch I did the hands on top so I wanted to have them a different color.
This is the next phase everything is all filled in!

Freestyle Fridays Week #5

So I decided to take this experimentation thing a bit farther and play around. First I taped the paper down (as I always do), but this time I decided to tear off small pieces of tape and put them on the piece so that later they will show the white paper when they are peeled up. Next I poured layers of  Teal, White, and Silver Ink onto the paper and made them run by blowing the wet ink with a drinking straw. Then I sketched the character with a black sharpie and added the triangular pattern to the face to blend in the new style I’m playing with. I really wanted the triangular  to break away into the splatters. I used Ink, Marker, and Acrylic Paint on this piece, called “Breakaway”.

Freestyle Fridays Week #4

This Friday, I started by screwing around with this character and a ball point. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture at that point. I am really feeling the way it was coming out so I decided to take to the it to the next level and rock a wall in this new found style. I knew I had to paint on Tuesday for an interview so I kept the sketch in mind and freestyled the piece below.

Freestyle Fridays Week #2

This project will bring me back to painting, drawing and designing on a daily and weekly basis.
Exploring different ideas and enjoying intuitively creating “art off of the dome” or Freestyling.

This week was my 34th Birthday, I am a Capricorn(Capri), and I put these elements together on the fly, dropped the screaming can in..then the title came to me..”Growing Pains”

Freestyle Fridays Week #1

This project will bring me back to painting, drawing and designing on a daily and weekly basis.
Exploring different ideas and enjoying intuitively creating “art off of the dome” or Freestyling.
I will explore different mediums ( water color, gouche, colored pencils, inks, markers and acrylics).
Each piece is 9″ x 12″ on a mixed media paper.
I will post a different finished piece as well as any detail shots, notes, or in progress shots every Friday.
At some point I will organize an exhibit of these pieces.
