Generations – A Collaborative Mural by Leon Rainbow & Busta Art at Trenton YMCA
We’re proud to announce the completion of “Generations,” a powerful new mural created by artists Leon Rainbow and Jose “Busta” Bustamante—also known as Busta Art—at the Capital Area YMCA in Trenton, NJ.
Located at 431 Pennington Avenue, this 70-foot-wide, 15-foot-tall mural transforms the YMCA’s exterior into a vibrant tribute to legacy, movement, and multigenerational strength. Rooted in the Y’s mission of equity, health, and community, the mural brings together youth, adults, and elders in a colorful celebration of shared space and purpose.
Titled “Generations,” the mural visually represents the YMCA’s vital programming—from basketball, martial arts, and dance to swimming, food access, and wellness—with a focus on diverse, intergenerational figures that reflect the strength and unity of Trenton’s community. Each section of the wall is filled with dynamic forms, radiant color, and intentional symbolism, portraying everyday people in action, growth, and connection.
Leon Rainbow’s signature graffiti-influenced style lays the foundation with bold movement, abstract patterns, and expressive flow, while
Busta Art brings a fine-art richness to the portraits, emphasizing cultural pride, emotion, and intricate detail.
Together, their collaboration tells a visual story that honors the past, present, and future of the YMCA—highlighting its legacy as the oldest YMCA in New Jersey, and its role as a home for hope, health, and belonging.
We invite you to visit the mural in person and feel the energy radiating from this celebration of community.
